LBS0097 - Basic Electrical 101

Course Description

This class is being offered to provide the student with foundation knowledge of electricity and electrical circuits. The class is a blend of lecture and hands-on training with real world examples of circuits and troubleshooting. The class starts by introducing the basics of electricity and then moves from there to Ohms law and Watts law where the students will perform calculations for series and parallel circuits. Next, and introduction to schematics and a study of symbols will be covered, which will lead into control logic and motor control techniques. Several types of common controls will be introduced with the student building the circuit and troubleshooting each one. Building on each of the circuits, additional functionality will be added using various timers, limit switches and other pilot devices. Toward the end of the program some time will be given to cover the National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E regarding electrical safety. The last class will be an instructor led build it, break it, troubleshoot it, and fix it session. Materials: 2014 or newer National Electric Code Book, notebooks/pencil/pens
