Course Description

You have stories. Your family has stories. Some are humorous, some are inspiring, and one or two may just be tall tales. Only you can write these stories and only you can protect them from being lost. You may even want to publish a book. Learn self-reflection and writing exercises that will help you write your own engaging recollections in full detail, as well as techniques for interviewing family and friends. Explore various format options to share with family, friends or the world. By the end of this class, you'll have a starter collection of stories and the tools and inspiration to write more.

Testimonials

“I attended the Memoir and Family History course taught by Laura Ehrke. Each class provided writing inspirations which I know I needed. She took us through a very structured methodology of teaching us how to approach writing our family histories. She is extremely encouraging and allowed us all to share what our approaches were and how the work was being developed. She encouraged feedback and provided guidance when we got stuck. I am keeping in touch with Laura for her next courses at Harper College because I definitely want to be on the roster!”
