LEI0059 - Blackletter Calligraphy
There are many various styles of Blackletter calligraphy. This class will focus on the basics of a script known as Textura Quadrata. This class will focus on the basics of a script known as Textura Quadrata. It will also cover the origins of Blackletter, the tools needed to begin and how to use them, understanding basic letterforms and tips and guidelines for developing various textures with this style of writing.
Pilot Parallel Pens (available as a very affordable set on Amazon)
Strathmore Drawing paper (Series 300 or 400, 9"x 12" or larger) or other similar 70-80 lb. practice paper
Straightedge or ruler the same size (or larger) than your practice paper
Black fine line marker (size .01 or .02) Sakura Pigma Micron or similar
Few paper towels
