Course Description
Interested in becoming a pilot? This aviation class covers aerodynamics, weather, regulations, and flight controls. Students will visit DuPage Airport for hands-on learning, including aircraft systems, ATC tours, and flight simulators. This practical course offers FAA 141 credit or a memorable experience and prepares you for the FAA Private Pilot Written Exam.

For in-person classes, students may purchase these required course materials prior to the first class: 1. Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge, 2. Airplane Flying Handbook, 3. FAR/AIM, 4. E-6B flight computer, 5. Private Pilot Written Exam Test Preparation Guide, 6. Chicago Area VFR Sectional Chart and Course plotter. Robert Werderich founded the Illinois Aviation Academy in 1993 and later graduated from Concordia University in 1995 with a BA in Education. Robert flew corporate aircraft while teaching aviation classes for 6 community colleges in the Chicago area until 1996 when began his airline career at United Feeder Service and later at Midwest Airlines based out of Milwaukee Wisconsin. Through that time, Robert continued to provide: flight and ground instruction, aircraft management services, serve as an industry expert for numerous media outlets, speak at industry seminars nationally and help create Tuskegee Next (an organization that supports underprivileged youth through aviation). Currently Robert flies and manages numerous corporate aircraft and is proud to be the recipient of the FAA Great Lakes Region Flight Instructor of the Year in 2016 and IAA being recognized by the Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association as one of the best flight schools in the United States.
