Course Description

 This is an entry-level course for students with no prior knowledge of German. Develop your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in German. You will be introduced to the cultures and people of the German-speaking world.

This is a flex course and may be taken in person or online. Online synchronous (real time interactive) and in-person class sessions take place Mondays and Wednesdays, 12:00-1:40pm. These sessions will be recorded and made available as needed. You must have access to a computer with reliable internet access, web cam, and microphone, and have basic computer skills if you choose the online course option. Students may alternate between attending in person and online as need

Students enrolled in this class will receive all the instruction and complete the activities that for-credit students engage in but will not be required to take quizzes or exams and will not be graded.

The textbook with an online component is used for GER 101, 102, and 201 at Harper and is available for purchase via Harper Store online.

All students who have prior experience or have taken classes in German at other schools must take the placement exam before registering for a course.
