Course Description

Animation Fundamentals is a self-paced course designed to teach the essential principles that bring animation to life, regardless of the software you use. Through engaging lessons and hands-on exercises, you will explore timing, spacing, motion, character movement, acting, and the renowned 12 Principles of Animation.

Working through short lessons and progressive assignments, you will develop a strong foundation in creating believable movement and visual storytelling. Ideal for aspiring animators, illustrators, game artists, and creative professionals, this course provides 16 weeks of access to learn at your own pace while building toward a final animated sequence that demonstrates core animation skills and artistic expression.

Learner Outcomes

♦ Understand Animation Principles: Explore the core principles of animation, including timing, spacing, squash and stretch, anticipation, and more. Learn how to apply these principles to create lifelike and expressive animations.

♦ Character and Object Animation: Dive into the art of character and object animation, studying facial expressions and character acting, and object behavior to bring your characters and objects to life.

♦ 2D Animation Techniques: Learn about the ins and outs, tips, and tricks of the 2D animation trade.

♦ Learn New Software: Learn the ins and outs of drawing by using free open-source software used in the industry.
