Course Description

This course will introduce you to the practice of fine art printmaking.  Techniques covered are relief, intaglio, and screenprinting.  The technical aspects of these processes will be taught alongside ways to create unique and personal imagery.  The history of these techniques will be taught along with traditional and contemporary approaches to process.  Beginners and experienced printmakers are welcome.   

While printmaking can seem to be process-heavy it is no more so than any other medium.  You will be taught to control the techniques of printmaking so that you may free yourself aesthetically.  

The instructor, Duffy O'Connor, holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking from the University of Iowa (1994) and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Grand Valley State University.  Mr. O'Connor is a printmaker in Chicago and is associated with the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative where he teaches and makes prints.
