Course Description

 

June 6, 1944, to May 8, 1945.  11 dramatic months.

 

Allied forces under the command of General Dwight Eisenhower landed on the shore of Normandy, France, and began fighting eastward. Towns and cities were liberated as the Nazi army was pushed back and back until it launched a desperate counterattack at The Battle of The Bulge. Once Bastogne was liberated the Allied forces pushed into Germany and encountered concentration camps, news of which sickened American citizens. Allied forces were ordered to stop so that Russia could take Berlin, a political decision unpopular with many, including General George Patton.
