Course Description

Identify the architecture and protocols that keep networks secure. Understand the role of routers, switches, and firewalls in network security. Tackle network security fundamentals, implementing firewalls and VPNS, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS) and securing wireless networks.

Course Outline

Unit 1
Application, Cryptanalytic, and Network Attacks

•    Real-world examples of attacks and how they are carried out.
•    Tools and methods used by attackers.
Attack Indicators
•    Recognizing patterns and behaviors indicative of an attack.
Unit 2
TCP/IP Networking

•    Overview of protocols and their security implications.
•    Secure communication mechanisms.
Network Security Design
•    Principles of segmentation, zoning, and DMZ configurations.
Unit 3
Network Security Devices

•    Firewalls, IDS/IPS, and their roles in securing networks.
Host Security & Configuration Enforcement
•    Hardening systems through configuration and patch management.
Unit 4
Mobile Device & Wireless Networking Security

•    Challenges of securing mobile and wireless environments.
•    Best practices for BYOD policies.
Threat Intelligence & Vulnerability Management
•    Using threat intelligence to proactively manage vulnerabilities.
•    Tools for vulnerability scanning and remediation.
