Course Description

In this interactive online discussion class we will apply philosophical concepts to "Pride and Prejudice" and "Sense and Sensibility." What are some of the different types of injustice, particularly those experienced by women? What would Aristotle say is the correct amount of various virtues, including sense, sensibility, pride, and prejudice?

If you don't want to read (or reread) the novels, I recommend these film adaptations which are available to stream: the six-part BBC production of "Pride and Prejudice" starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle, and Emma Thompson's film "Sense and Sensibility," which were both originally shown in 1995.
