Course Description
This course immerses students in experiential learning to enhance well-being and happiness. Through hands-on activities, students explore mental, physical, emotional, and social wellness, building skills in stress management, resilience, and balance. It offers practical exercises that foster lasting, positive change, promoting a deeper understanding of self-care and personal growth.Course Outline
The course will be delivered over four weeks, with each 90-minute session dedicated to learning activities combined with group reflection and discussion.Week-by-Week Breakdown:
Week 1: Immersive Introduction to Self-Care
? Activity: Self-Care Assessment Workshop – Participants use interactive tools to identify their values, understand their needs and evaluate their current self-care practices.
? Reflection: Group discussion on initial findings and expectations for the course.
Week 2: What gets in the way of self-care?
? Learn: What stressors may create an unhealthy environment, the signs of a lack of self-care, how to build awareness in ourselves so we can more easily recognize stressors.
? Activity: Identify what each individual’s triggers for heightened stress are as well as what may work for them personally to reduce the sensitivity to those triggers.
? Exercise: Mindfulness- Listening exercise & hands-on practice with diaphragmatic breathing and progressive muscle relaxation.
Week 3: Self-Compassion & Self-Talk
? Learn: How our self-talk and self-compassion has the greatest impact on our self-care success.
? Activity: Assessment of our own level of self-compassion that we experience and a guide on how to increase the levels of grace and love we show ourselves.
? Exercise: Changing your self-talk
Week 4: Integrating Self-Care and Reflection
? Learn: Basics of how nutrition and exercise affect our ability to govern ourselves effectively.
? Activity: Personal Growth Reflection – Participants share their self-care journey and insights gained throughout the course.
? Exercise: Goal Setting and Action Plan – Develop personalized action plans for ongoing self-care practices.
Teaching Methods:
? Interactive Workshops: Engaging, hands-on sessions designed to practice and integrate self-care techniques.
? Group Reflections: Facilitated discussions to share experiences, insights, and provide mutual support.
? Guided Exercises: Practical exercises including worksheets, assessments and videos to reinforce learning.

Course Objectives:1. Discover Personal Self-Care Needs: Participants will use experiential exercises and assessments to identify and understand their unique self-care needs as well as examine how self-compassion and affirming self-talk is a crucial component to that.
2. Delve into the self: Through exercises, discussions and assessments participants will develop awareness of how their individual needs can be nurtured and met.
3. Enhance Physical, Mental and Emotional Health: Through guided exercises, students will learn about and practice mindfulness, movement, stress management and develop self-awareness.
