Course Description

In observance of the 80th anniversary of the end of history's greatest war, WW II expert and the author of The Hidden Places of World War II, Jerome M. O'Connor, will describe with vivid images and personal experience how the combined efforts of the war workers and the war fighters were essential to victory. Special emphasis and rare then to now views of the numerous Chicago area defense industries and their employees. Learn about rationing, air raid drills, and how millions of Victory Gardens that originated in Chicago fed millions here and abroad.
