LEI0160 - Ceramic Ornaments for Christmas Tree Workshop

Course Description

Get into the holiday spirit by making your own unique ceramic ornaments for your Christmas tree! This fun, two-session workshop will guide you through the process of hand-building ornaments out of clay.

Course Outline

Session 1 (2 hours)
In the first session, you'll learn basic hand-building techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab construction. Then, you'll use these methods to sculpt your own festive ornament designs. Get creative with shapes like stars, trees, snowflakes, candy canes, and more! Once your ornaments are formed, they'll be fired in the kiln to create a durable ceramic piece.

Session 2 (2 hours)
About a week later, you'll return for the second session to glaze and decorate your fired ornaments. You'll have a selection of colored glazes to choose from to make your ornaments vibrant and eye-catching. Use techniques like glazing, sponging, and painting to add fun details and patterns. Your finished ornaments will be fired one last time to set the glazes. You'll get to take home your unique, handmade ceramic ornaments to hang on your tree or give as gifts! All materials and firings are included. Items will have to be fired at a later date. 

The workshop makes a great creative activity. No prior ceramic experience is needed
