Course Description

This course explores themes of suffering and loneliness throughout history as common elements of the chronic illness experience. Particular attention is given to the stigmatizing nature of disease and disability, and on how stigma can further isolate not only individual sufferers, but also the ones who care for them. The instructor has extensive clinical experience working with patients and families struggling with stigmatizing conditions, and has also trained hundreds of medical, nursing, and social services staff on these topics. This non-clinical course welcomes all interested learners.  This is part of our  MASTER CLASS SERIES

Instructor: Robert Daniel Reid, MPH, MSW
