Discover how you can turn your love of animals into a profitable pet-sitting career. This course covers everything you need to know about caring for pets from nutrition, exercise and first aid and everything that goes into starting a successful business.

What you will learn

  • Gain an understanding of how dogs and cats are different and require different care
  • Learn about feeding, watering, and exercising pets
  • Discover different emergency situations you may encounter and how to handle them
  • Learn what to do when a cat or dog becomes aggressive and some strategies for dealing with behavioral issues
  • Learn how to make a good impression when talking to prospective clients
  • Learn the types of questions to ask and the information you need from your clients when making your initial home visit
  • Learn what to do when a pet gets lost or needs expensive veterinary care
  • Discover tools and techniques for building your clientele
  • Learn what you will need to establish your business, including licenses, contracts, and insurance
  • Learn to create a business plan to determine start-up costs as well as the ongoing costs of running a pet business
  • Discover other services you can offer such as grooming, nail clipping, dog walking, puppy training, etc.

  • This course can be taken on either a PC, Mac, or Chromebook.

Software Requirements:

  • PC: Windows 8 or later.
  • Mac: macOS 10.6 or later.
  • Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. Microsoft Edge and Safari are also compatible.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • Software must be installed and fully operational before the course begins.
