Course Description

Throughout the Renaissance Period in Italy, between the 15th and 16th century during the Protestant Reformation and its response of the Counter Reformation.  This second presentation will cover the paintings created for the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo, the design and construction of the great Baluchino canopy by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, the tomb of Saint Peter, the Vatican museums, the Vatican’s gardens, the Swiss Guard, and the time at which the Fascist Leader Benito Mussolini ended the 1929 crisis, the Lateran Pacts, and the recent construction of The New Audience Hall, designed by architect Pier Luigi Nervi, completed in 1971.
