Course Description

The Roman Empire is often portrayed as one of warfare, conquest, and political chaos. When, however, we look at Roman culture during the period of Augustus we can see cultural themes of family, religiosity and the law reemerge after a long period of civil war. You’ll examine these features of Roman society to broaden your understanding of life during the formation of the Augustan Empire.
