Course Description

The Career Skills Institute provides an educational experience for students with mild cognitive disabilities, age 18 and above. Career Skills Institute II is the second semester of the program and builds on the skills the students mastered in the first semester. Acceptance into the Institute and completion of LDD8001 or equivalent as determined by the program coordinator is required for registration. Career Skills Institute II is composed of 3 modules: English Composition, Self Management, and Workplace Communication. These modules are designed to build skills that will create success in this program and later, in the workplace. Students will learn a combination of academic and work related competencies such as how to write formally, how to manage oneself and cope in the workplace , and how to effectively communicate on the job.
