LEI0116 - Beginning Glassblowing
Course Description
In this class, you can pick out the colors, experiment with specialty glass, and use different techniques. You’ll also start making different paperweights to build your skills and learn how to blow the glass of different shapes and sizes. Each student can expect to make 8 - 12 pieces in this class. This class meets at a local studio; see full details at ce.harpercollege.edu. The Minimum number of people for this event is 1. The maximum number of people is 2 per group. The age limit is 16 +. The cost for this class includes all materials. Pieces will not be ready to take home on the same day because they have to cool down after being made, and cooling times vary. Each person will get a tour of the studio, gallery, and the Hot Shop, a short explanation of the instructor’s background.

Notes
Peter Patterson Glassworks has a strict dress code policy for any participatory events. Therefore, anyone who does not conform to our dress code will not be able to participate in the event. Here is what you need to know before you come in:
Pants: Long Cotton pants (blue jeans with no holes); no shorts, skirts, Capri, or nylon
Socks: Covering the ankle
Shoes: Closed toe shoes (gym shoes); no boots, slippers, clogs, crocs, or sandals.
Shirt: Long or short sleeve cotton shirt; no fleece, nylon, or synthetic fabrics.
Anyone who is under the age of 18, a parent/guardian must be present to sign a waiver. Anyone who is under the age of 15, the parent/guardian must be present for the entire class and participate in the class.

Directions:
Once you turn onto Tower Road, do not go by the addresses, they are all mixed on both sides of the street. Peter Patterson Glassworks is the 4th building on the left (in the back of building). It’s the one-story brick building on the left as the road curves.
