Course Description
Open studio hours give registered ceramics students extra time outside of class to focus on their projects. Sessions are offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3 to 6:30 p.m. and provide a supportive setting to practice techniques, explore new ideas, and finish works-in-progress. Students may sign up for either day or choose both for additional studio time.
This is an add-on course, which means students must first be enrolled in one of the designated ceramics courses listed below before registering for this option.
EI0013 - Pottery for Beginners and Advanced Students
LEI0033 - Pottery Workshop
LEI0020 - Pottery: Wheel-Throwing for Beginners
The clay that students will use in this add-on course is the same clay that students receive when registering for one of the above courses. However, you'll receive an additional 25 lbs when registering for the add-on. Outside clay is strictly prohibited.

Kristen Walk earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ball State University and a Master of Fine Arts from Southern Illinois University. While attending these schools, she taught Introduction to Visual Culture, Foundations of 3D design, and Intermediate Ceramics. Kristen's educational journey began at the community college level, and she aims to give students the same productive and inspiring environment that she experienced. The setting of a community college provided her with the skills and abilities to eventually pursue a masters degree, and this is the stage of education where she likes to teach. Beginning as a non-traditional student herself, Kristen has seen the value of a diverse community of students and the possibilities the study of art has to enrich people at every stage of their life and progress.
