Course Description
This course will cover the most influential musicals of the 20th and 21st Century and how they influenced the musicals of today. You will learn the roles and jobs that work together to create a production and try our hands at playwriting and design. In addition, each student will choose to present either a report on a favorite musical and/or a solo performance of a song from a show. The presentations will be viewed by the class on our final day.

Course Outline
- Musical Theater History: Journey through time, exploring iconic shows that shaped the genre.
- Behind the Scenes: Learn about the various roles and jobs that bring a musical to life, from directors to costume designers.
- Hands-on Experience: Try your hand at playwriting and design, putting your newfound knowledge into practice.
- Performance Opportunity: Choose between presenting a report on your favorite musical or performing a solo from a Broadway show.
- Final Showcase: Celebrate your achievements with a class viewing of all presentations on the last day.
