Course Description

This course is a beginner-level course designed for students with little to no prior experience with the Italian language. The focus is on developing basic communication skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students will learn everyday vocabulary, common expressions, and essential grammar structures to help them introduce themselves, talk about family and friends, order food, describe daily activities, and navigate simple real-life situations.

Cultural topics are integrated throughout the course, giving students an introduction to Italian traditions, food, geography, and lifestyle. By the end of Italian 1, students should be able to hold simple conversations, understand basic spoken Italian in familiar contexts, and read and write short texts with growing confidence.
