Born in Cuba, in the cosmopolitan city of pre-revolution Havana, came with parents and siblings to the U.S. in 1963 with the diplomatic aide of the Swiss Government in that country. With a deep interest in languages and world cultures stemming from an early age, my university studies have focused in linguistic anthropology, comparative and social linguistics, and language reconstruction delving into the theoretical quest for “proto-language.” A native speaker of Spanish, have also studied French and continue to learn other languages, such as Romanian and Italian. Another interest has been the sport of Olympic style fencing, in which National ranking and classifications are held, and still compete at the highest levels of competitions in the sport.
