Enhance your architectural photography skills through hands-on learning focused on composition, camera settings, and creative techniques for capturing compelling images in diverse environments. Under the guidance of Harold Rail—one of Chicago’s most acclaimed photographers—you’ll explore how to prepare and photograph spaces effectively, apply advanced editing methods, and gain insights through live demonstrations. Participants should have a strong command of manual camera operations and bring a digital SLR, memory card, and tripod. The class culminates in a guided photography tour of Harper’s campus, showcasing its striking architecture, sculptures, and public artworks.

Harold Rail is a photography instructor for Harper College teaching Continuing Education classes. For 25 years he owned Afterglow Creative Services, an independent video production and still photography company. He was an Army photographer stationed at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. He majored in photography with a minor in film production and writing at Columbia College, Chicago. Presently, along with his teaching work, he mostly freelances with journalist Jacqueline Runice photographing travel and events stories. His primary work is making original creative photographs.
