This self-paced online course invites adult writers of all experience levels to read and reflect on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, a holiday classic that has sparked generations of goodwill - and an abundance of adaptations. After some basic literary analysis, you'll remix the tale's structure, themes, and characters to create a brand-new version inspired by your unique perspective. Writing prompts, exercises, tips and creative inspiration will help you start penning your prose - or poem (there are no rules!). Update the original by personalizing it for friends and family, weave in a contemporary social issue, or simply add a new twist. Whether heartfelt or hilarious, ghostly or grounded, your “carol” will carry the timeless spirit of transformation.
