The Animation Lip Syncing course will be delivered through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, hands-on exercises, and project-based learning

Course Outline

1. Fundamentals of Lip-Syncing
   • The anatomy of the mouth and its movements
   • Phonemes and their corresponding mouth shapes
   • Timing and rhythm in lip-syncing
      
2. Dialogue Analysis and Interpretation
   • Identifying key mouth shapes and movements in spoken dialogue
   • Translating dialogue into animatable lip movements
   • Maintaining character consistency and personality
      
3. Lip-Syncing Techniques
   • Keyframing and in-betweening for accurate lip movements
   • Utilizing reference footage and audio recordings
   • Incorporating facial expressions and head movements
      
4. Emotional Expression and Character Personality
   • Enhancing character emotions through lip-syncing
   • Developing unique lip-syncing styles for different character types
   • Integrating lip-syncing with other aspects of character animation
      
5. Practical Application and Project Development
   • Applying lip-syncing skills to a variety of animated projects
   • Troubleshooting and problem-solving in lip-syncing
   • Presenting and critiquing student work
      

Learner Outcomes

By the end of the course students will be able to:

• Develop a keen understanding of phonemes, the distinct speech sounds that form the basis of accurate lip-syncing.
• Learn to identify and reproduce these phonemes to create realistic lip movements.
• Explore the anatomy of the human face, including the structure and movement of the lips, jaw, tongue, and facial muscles.
