Course Description

La Mancha is the largest (and one of the oldest) delimited wine region in Europe. Very hot summers and cold winters produce dramatic climate variation, so it is a hardy grape that survives here. Airen is the most prevalent (it makes a fine brandy) but there are reds including Cencibel (local name for Tempranillo), Cabernet and Merlot though there are many others. Among the whites, you will find Chardonnay, Viognier, Macabeo, Torrontes and Verdejo. The reputation of quality in this area of Spain is on the rise.
