Course Description

Book Discussion Autumn of the Black Snake: The Creation of the U.S. Army and the Invasion That Opened the West
Author William Hogeland brings the people and events of the 1790s to life with vigorous and colorful prose. This book relates the struggle between the United States and the united tribes of the Northwest Territory, for the prize of the Ohio Valley. Far more than a military history, it brings to life both familiar historical characters as well as less familiar ones like Little Turtle, Blue Jacket, and Mad Anthony Wayne. Truly, no conflict is ever black and white. Please read the book beforehand to get the most out of the discussion.

Dates of course 4/19 and 4/26/22
