Course Description

This course is designed for CNA students currently enrolled in CNA 111 at Harper College. AHA resuscitation training programs help you learn through both individual and team skills practice in a variety of real-world circumstances and settings. This lab includes a 1-1 skills assessment where you will demonstrate your CPR and AED competencies with an AHA Instructor for adult, child, and infant victims.

This class is only for students concurrently enrolled in CNA 111 with Mary Horstman at Harper College. 
 

Course Outline

  • High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
  • Important early use of an AED
  • Effective ventilations using a barrier device
  • Importance of teams in multi-rescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multi-rescuer CPR
  • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants
