Course Description

This course will introduce students to various informal, fun and funky lettering styles that can be used in many types of creative applications, such as correspondence, gifts and special art pieces. Traditional pens, as well as markers and other alternative tools, will be used to stretch your creative imaginations and make small projects. Whether you’re new to calligraphy or have some prior experience, this class will offer new possibilities for you to add creative lettering in your art!

Week 1 - Hand Lettering Basics
Week 2 - Alternative Tools and Materials
Weeks 3 - 6 Open Format to Create Your Own Custom Piece

Pilot Parallel Pens (available as a very affordable set on Amazon)
Strathmore Drawing paper (Series 300 or 400,  9"x 12" or larger) or other similar 70-80 lb. practice paper
Straightedge or ruler the same size (or larger) than your practice paper
Black fine line marker (size .01 or .02) Sakura Pigma Micron or similar
Water jar
Few paper towels
Pencil
