For nearly 3000 years, Jews, Christians, and Muslims have slaughtered one another for its possession. The First Temple, built by King Solomon once held the Arc of the Covenant, and dates to the 10th century BCE, The Second Temple was burned down by the Romans in the first century. Today it holds the golden Dome of the Rock.
This holy site is four times larger than the Acropolis of Athens.
