Course Description

This course is designed for adults who have had at least 2 years of experience playing a band instrument, or are currently taking private lessons, and would like to refresh or develop their skills while rehearsing and performing with an ensemble. Open to flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, French horn, trumpet, trombone, and baritone. Emphasis will be on developing aspects of ensemble playing, technical and note reading skills, rhythm and following a conductor. Technique specific to each instrument will not be addressed. Music arrangements will be chosen from a mix of standard, popular and classical repertoire at a middle school level (Grade 1-2). Several musical selections will be rehearsed to a performance standard, and the semester will conclude with an onstage performance.
