Course Description

Mary Oliver, who spent a lifetime “making a world out of words,” died on January 17, 2019, at age 83. Her critics claim that her poetry is a little too sweet, a little too easy. But her admirers made her one of America’s most popular poets. She encourages her readers to proclaim with her: “When it's over, I want to say: all my life I was a bride married to amazement.” In this talk we’ll examine her life, her poetry of amazement, and her insights into the life of the spirit.
