BAROQUE ROME – DISCOVERING THE ART AND ARCHITECTURE OF 17TH CENTURY ROME
Referred to as “The Mother City,” 17th century Rome became the centerpiece for urban development and pilgrimage and thus gave rise to the Baroque, the original artistic style born from the Church Triumphant. In service of the call to return to Catholicism, such greats as Bernini and Borromini created some of the most enduring masterpieces of Western Civilization.
