Improve your health and well being with Qi Qong and Tai Chi. This traditional Chinese health care system is based on having all of the body¿s systems in balance. You will learn Qi Qong and Tai Chi Chuan form, two practices providing you with a way to improve your health and quality of life. Regular practice unlocks the flow of energy through the body and can be used to treat or help in the prevention of a wide range of illnesses. The initial eight-week class will focus on Qi Qong, a moving meditation that promotes relaxation while building internal power. Qi Qong serves as a warm up for Tai Chi Chuan, a therapeutic art that uses gentle flowing movements to reduce the stress of today¿s busy lifestyles by promoting internal health, stress reduction, strength, balance and agility. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and socks.
"I first enrolled in the Tai Chi class at Harper one summer several years ago; I've enrolled every semester since then. I've taken Tai Chi classes elsewhere and no other one keeps me coming back the way this one does. I keep coming back in large part because of the fabulous instructor, Scott Garske, as well as improved overall health. This class is often a highlight of my week. Positive results from class are numerous, including lower blood pressure (my rings are loose after class), an increase in strength and flexibility (class is a good work-out), and improved focus (with regular practice, I can put the stress of the day aside). Time spent at this Tai Chi class is well worth it!"
