LMT0004 - Motorcycle Basic RiderCourse2 (BRC2): Freeport
Course Description
The Basic RiderCourse2 (BRC2) is designed for people who:
- Are at least 18 years of age at the first course meeting (minors are required take the Basic RiderCourse (BRC)).
- Who are returning to motorcycling after some time away from riding.
- Have been riding for some time without obtaining an endorsement.
- Have recently participated in a BRC and would like more practice.
- Have ridden off-road and want to transition to street riding.
- Understand that lacking in the basic riding skills (straight-line riding, shifting, stopping, and turning) will result in being asked to leave the class and to take the Basic RiderCourse.
In the BRC2 you will:
- Participate in classroom and hands-on instruction.
- Practice cornering and braking skills, as well as low-speed and limited-space maneuvers and swerving techniques.
- Focus on developing good mental strategies, managing special situations, self-assessment, and hazard/collision trap perception.
- The motorcycles, helmets (if you do not have one of your own), and textbooks are provided.
- a long-sleeved shirt or jacket.
- long pants (heavy material with straight legs and no holes).
- sturdy over-the-ankle footwear (not cloth or canvas).
- full-fingered gloves (leather preferred).
- eye protection (glasses, goggles, or face shield).
Successful completion of the BRC2 will waive the written and riding tests at the Illinois Secretary of State's office.
