Course DescriptionThis region derives its name from the Loire River, which has shaped the geography and influences the microclimate of the region. There is an amazing diversity of wine produced in this region. Most of the wine is white from the Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, and Melon de Bourgogne grapes. There are, however, significant red wines made from the Cabernet Franc grape. Adding to the interest in the wines of the Loire region is a long history of winemaking going back to the 5th century. Marcel Flori will bring this to you in a manageable presentation that culminates with a tasting of four wines from the Loire Valley. You must be 21 years of age or older to enroll in wine classes.
