Pottery
Course Description
In this course, a continuation of Pottery for Beginners, you will receive individualized attention for projects that call for more complex techniques. In the context of this workshop, projects involving wheel throwing and hand construction may be completed. A deeper investigation of the ceramic arts will benefit students with a basic understanding of ceramics. Pottery for Beginners, Pottery, Wheel Throwing for Beginners, or a comparable experience level are prerequisites.

Please note that some course materials may include R-rated or mature content intended for educational and artistic analysis; enrollment is open to students aged 16 and older with parental consent.

The Harper College Bookstore has an extensive art section--a great resource, especially when you run out of materials at the last minute. Open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the fall and spring, and 6:30 p.m. in the summer.

Hand towel(s).
Pottery tool kit (obtained through Harper College Bookstore for ~$15).

• Loop Tool—LT5
• Sponge—SPR
• Wire Clay Cutter—K35
Metal fork (for scoring clay).
An apron is highly recommended (to help protect your clothes).
Additional supply items needed
Wheel pins: optional.
• Purchased from your instructor for $1.00 per pair.
All other supplies (such as clay and glaze) are provided in class at no additional charge.

Occasionally, Continuing Education courses are cancelled due to low enrollment. Cancellation decisions are made three (3) days in advance of the start date of the course. We highly recommend that you do not purchase supplies and/or textbooks until you are sure that the class has not been cancelled.
