Course Description

Learn how to create responsive websites using current and popular coding techniques. Topics include wireframes, creating a custom responsive framework, and introduction to Twitter Bootstrap and Zurb Foundation. Sass and responsive emails are also discussed. Prerequisites: Intermediate jQuery.

Setting up a personal web server (PWS)

  • Purpose of PWS and how to set one up

 Reviewing Wireframes

  • Discuss the purpose of wireframes
  • Breakdown wireframes to create an outline for coding

HTML5, CSS & jQuery

  • Review of viewport, media queries, and box-sizing
  • Code a responsive webpage with HTML5, CSS, and jQuery

Responsive Grid Frameworks

  • Overview of grid systems and how they compare to non-grid frameworks

Twitter Bootstrap

  • Overview of Bootstrap
  • How to get it and set it up for web projects
  • Understanding Bootstrap’s grid layout
  • Code a responsive webpage with Bootstrap

Zurb Foundation

  • Overview of Foundation
  • How to get it and set it up for web projects
  • Understanding Foundation’s grid layout
  • Code a responsive webpage with Foundation

Zurb Foundation- Introduction to Sass

  • What are CSS pre-processors and how they are beneficial
  • What is Sass, how to get it and begin using it
  • How to increase efficiency with Sass
  • Utilizing Sass to create complex style sheets
