The Basic RiderCourse (BRC) Provides 20 hours of classroom and on-motorcycle instruction. You must be an Illinois resident 16 years of age or older. The BRC covers the basics of operating a motorcycle and safety-oriented mental strategies. Motorcycles and helmets are provided for your use. Successful completion of this course will waive both state licensing tests for those 18 years of age and older. Students under 18 must still take both state licensing tests. The course may also earn you an insurance discount.

The Basic Rider eCourse (BRCe) Provides 20 hours total for the course. Four hours of online self-study, 16 hours of classroom and on-motorcycle instruction. You must be an Illinois resident 16 years of age or older. The BRCe covers the basics of operating a motorcycle and safety-oriented mental strategies. Motorcycles and helmets are provided for your use. Successful completion of this course will waive both state licensing tests for those 18 years of age and older. The course may also earn you an insurance discount. A web link will be supplied to those who pre-register for the course, approximately 30 days prior to the first in-person session, which will allow you to complete the online component of the course at no cost. However, due to the online component of this course, walk-in registrations will only be accepted if you have a valid MSF eCourse certificate. The online component covers only the workbook knowledge and is not a substitute for a complete course.

The Intermediate RiderCourse (BRC2) Provides 12 hours of classroom and on-motorcycle instructions. This program has elements of the BRC.  You must be an Illinois resident 18 years of age or older.  It is designed for riders who already possess basic skills but lacking a motorcycle classification. Motorcycles and helmets are provided for your use. Successful completion of this course will waive both state licensing tests for those 18 years of age and older.  The course may also earn you an insurance discount.

If a class is registered full it will not be listed when you choose your course type and move to the next step in the registration process. The table below is provided as a reference to see all classes that are scheduled at this training location. 

ALL motorcycle safety classes at Elgin Community College have been cancelled through August 16. Below are classes currently scheduled from that date through November 8. This list is subject to change.
