Course Description
Anthropology is the study of humans in their physical and cultural constructions. It looks at the past and present while considering the future. It is a mix of history, political science, economics, environmental studies, psychology, physiology, biology, gender studies and more. Anthropology looks at the complete human condition. You will learn about the diversity of cultural beliefs and practices as we focus on people and their diverse approaches to human life including spiritual beliefs, gender, music, and race.
Scott Cashman is a professor of Anthropology at the College of Lake County and is the Senior Manger of Community Education at Harper College.

Scott Cashman is a cultural anthropologist who earned his Ph.D. degree at the University of Massachusetts. His specialization is in the political economy of expatriate jazz and blues musicians in Europe. He has also developed his interests in how ghosts and spirits are understood in cultures around the globe. Dr. Cashman is the founder and Co-Director of Harper's Back Porch Revue, an American folk music ensemble. In addition to his work at Harper College, he teaches Cultural Anthropology at the College of Lake County (IL).
