Course Description

Anthropology is the study of humans in their physical and cultural constructions. It looks at the past and present while considering the future. It is a mix of history, political science, economics, environmental studies, psychology, physiology, biology, gender studies and more. Anthropology looks at the complete human condition. You will learn about the diversity of cultural beliefs and practices as we focus on people and their diverse approaches to human life including spiritual beliefs, gender, music, and race.

Scott Cashman is a professor of Anthropology at the College of Lake County and is the Senior Manger of Community Education at Harper College.

Learner Outcomes

At the completion of the class students will be able to appreciate that humans develop multiple solutions to the challenges of life. They will understand that these solutions are valid for culturally specific situations and that the diversity of cultures creates a rich set of options to learn from and appreciate.
