Course Description

In this friendly and supportive group atmosphere, you will learn how to play the violin that is rooted in folk traditions. Even if you've never played a string instrument before, we'll have you playing a melody before you know it. You'll start by learning how to hold the bow and the violin, as well as how to tune and care for your instrument. This class will also cover basic rhythms, violin notes, and introduce students to common scales (A major and D major). The repertoire emphasizes social music-making, learning by ear, and our methods follow best practices in active music education. To inquire about the course, please contact Mr. Gabriel at gar@ameritech.net.
